For those looking for somewhere warm but affordable for holidays this summer, consider Majorca. There is something for everyone in Majorca – perfect sandy beaches, historic sights and a buzzing cultural scene. Found in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea, Majorca is one of the largest of the Balearic Islands. The Island is sun-soaked throughout the summer months, making it a popular choice for package holidays among British holidaymakers.
If you want to do something other than lazing on the beach, then explore some of the culture in Palma. Whilst here, visit the Palma Cathedral, which can be seen from all over the city. The cathedral was originally built on the request of Jaime I after running into a terrible storm on the way to the Island. He vowed that if they survived the storm, he vowed to build a grand church in honour of the Virgin Mary The construction of the Cathedral began in 1229, and wasn’t completely finished until 1601! You can now marvel at the grand scale of this spectacular building and admire the Gothic towers looming over the Sea.
For those that are looking for the nightlife in Majorca, visit Palma or Magaluf. The capital, Palma, has dozens of bars, clubs and restaurants to enjoy. If you want to see the more authentic side to the city and dine with the locals then head to the ‘old town’. Here you’ll find some delightful bistros serving fresh fish and tapas dishes. After dinner, head to one of the laid-back jazz clubs. If you’re looking for something a little livelier on your package holidays, then consider going to Magaluf, which can be found in the southern region of the Island. Here you’ll find plenty of lively discos where you can put on your dancing shoes. For those that want cheap holidays, with everything they could want on their doorstep, then consider going to Majorca.
As Majorca is found right in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea, it enjoys months of warm sunny weather. Some hotels and restaurants close in the winter months, so if you want to make the most of the Island’s amenities consider coming in the summer months. The weather between June until September makes these months the most popular with holidaymakers. The temperature in June hovers around 27°C, making it the perfect temperature for those travelling with children. You’ll find that package holidays around this time are very cheap, so you can have very affordable sunny holidays.
